Adam Altman, MD

Adam J. Altman M.D. joined Eye Consultants of Pennsylvania in September 1995. Dr. Altman received his undergraduate degree at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, Magna Cum Laude. He received his medical degree from the University of Massachusetts Medical School in 1985. He performed an ophthalmology residency at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, North Carolina from 1986 to 1989, being elected chief resident in 1989.

Dr. Altman completed a Cornea and External Eye Disease fellowship at the prestigious Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology in 1990. In 1992 Dr. Altman co-founded Wills Eye Hospital's Refractive Surgery Service.

Dr. Altman has published extensively in the peer-reviewed medical literature, and has presented numerous papers at Wills Eye Hospital's Annual Conferences. He served as an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology on the Cornea Service at Wills Eye Hospital.

Dr. Altman's particular interests include refractive cataract surgery and astigmatism correction, and LASIK laser vision correction.

He has medical staff privileges at the Reading Hospital and Medical Center, as well as The Pottsville Hospital and Warne Clinic, and he served as medical director at the Pennsylvania Eye and Ear Surgery Center.

David Goldberg, MD, FAAP

David S. Goldberg, M.D., F.A.A.P. received his fellowship in Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus at Scottish Rite Children's Hospital in Atlanta. He also received training in Oculoplastic surgery. Prior to his fellowship, Dr. Goldberg was chief resident in ophthalmology at Louisiana State University in New Orleans. He has published research on pediatric cataract surgery, congenital defects and pediatric ocular trauma. His research on strabismus surgery has been presented at national meetings of the American Academy of Pediatric Ophthalmology & Strabismus, an organization of which he is a member. Dr. Goldberg has also presented at the American Society of Oculoplastic and Reconstructive Surgeons. Dr. Goldberg is Board Certified in Ophthalmology.

Dr. Goldberg is experienced in the management of complicated strabismus. He has a particular interest in Oculoplastic and lacrimal surgery in both adults and children. Y. Katherine Hu, MD

Y. Katherine Hu, M.D. joined The Eye Consultants of Pennsylvania in February, 2009 as a comprehensive ophthalmologist.

Dr. Hu received her undergraduate degree from the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign, Summa Cum Laude. She subsequiently attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison and received a Master degree in Biochemistry. She completed her medical education at the University of Virginia School of Medicine, where she was elected into the Alpha Omega Alpha National Medical Honorary Society, and graduated first of her class in 2004. She also received the American Medical Women's Association Glasgow-Rubin Achievement Award for academic excellence. After serving an internship in Internal Medicine at the University of Virginia Medical Center, she performed her Ophthalmology residency at the prestigious Wilmer Eye Institute of Johns Hopkins Medical Center in Baltimore from 2005 to 2008.

Prior to her medical career, Dr. Hu was involved in medical research, as a graduate student as well as research scientist at the National Institute of Health. She also has interests in international ophthalmology. She had visited and worked in eye hospitals in China and India after her residency.

As a comprehensive ophthalmologist, Dr. Hu has special interests in h elping patients obtaining better vision through cataract surgeries. She also has strong interests and experiences in medical management of diabetic eye diseases and age-related macular degeneration.

Jonathan D. Primack, MD, a corneal specialist, joined The Eye Consultants of Pennsylvania in March 2006.

Dr. Primack received his undergraduate degree Magna Cum Laude from Washington University in St. Louis. He attended the Washington University School of Medicine and subsequently served as an Intern at Lenox Hill Hospital. He performed his Ophthalmology Residency at the Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City.

Dr. Primack next completed a two year Cornea, External Disease, and Refractive Surgery Fellowship at the Massachusetts Eye & Ear Infirmary at Harvard Medical School. While at Harvard, he was a recipient of the prestigious Heed Ophthalmic Fellowship.

For over four years, Dr. Primack served as the Director of Refractive Surgery at the North Shore - Long Island Jewish Medical Center in Long Island, New York. Dr. Primack is Board certified by The American Board of Ophthalmology.

As a leader in corneal, cataract, and refractive surgery. Dr. Primack spends a significant amount of time speaking and writing about the latest issues surrounding LASIK technology. Elliot Werner, MD
Glaucoma Specialist

A native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Elliot B. Werner, M.D., one of our glaucoma specialists, attended undergraduate and medical school at the University of Pennsylvania. He completed his ophthalmology residency at McGill University in Montreal and a fellowship in glaucoma at the University of British Columbia with Dr. Stephen Drance, one of the pioneers in developing glaucoma specialty training.

After completing his training in 1977, Dr. Werner joined the faculty at McGill University and was appointed Director of the Glaucoma Service at the prestigious Royal Victoria Hospital in Montreal. In 1982, Dr. Werner joined the faculty at the University of Pennsylvania Department of Ophthalmology, Scheie Eye Institute in Philadelphia. During this time he also served as Chief of Ophthalmology at the Philadelphia Veterans Administration Hospital. In 1988, Dr. Werner joined the faculty at Hahnemann University (now Drexel University College of Medicine). He rose to the rank of full professor and Chief of the Glaucoma Service in the Department of Ophthalmology. He has also been a member of the Wills Eye Hospital Glaucoma Service, Co-Chief of the Glaucoma Center at The Eye Institute of the Pennsylvania College of Optometry, and has served as President of the Section on Ophthalmology for the Philadelphia College of Physicians.

Dr. Werner is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology as well as the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and a member of several national and international societies including the American Glaucoma Society and the International Perimetric (Visual Field) Society. He has received the American Academy of Ophthalmology Honor Award and is a member of AOA, the National Medical Honor Society. He is the author of over fifty original scientific papers as well as a contributing author to numerous textbooks.

He has medical staff privileges at the Pennsylvania Eye and Ear Surgery Center, the Reading Hospital and Medical Center, The Physicians Care Surgical Hospital, The Pottsville Hospital and Warne Clinic, and the Phoenixville Hospital.
